Clover Privacy Policy
Effective October 23, 2026 · Android version 1.0.2
Clover is an offline EPUB reader developed by Zoilo Blanco. This policy describes the information handled by the Android app.
Your reading data stays on your device
Clover does not require an account and does not send your books, reading history, bookmarks, notes, or settings to the developer. This version includes no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting service, or cloud synchronization. Clover does not sell user data or share it with advertisers.
Files and local storage
When you select an EPUB or cover image using Android’s system document picker, Clover reads the selected file and stores a managed copy in its private app storage. Your original file is preserved. The app also stores book metadata, collections, favorites, reading status, manual bookmarks, notes, note drafts, cover appearance, and preferences locally. A temporary reading checkpoint may help recover from an interruption; it is separate from your manual bookmark. Explicitly discarding reading progress clears the recovery position without deleting your notes or books.
Clover uses Android’s app sandbox and does not request broad access to your storage, contacts, location, camera, or microphone. Its embedded reader loads local app and book resources and blocks external web requests. Clover does not add separate password-based encryption to its local library; device access and Android’s protections still matter.
Backups you choose to create
Save backup exports your managed EPUBs, cover images, library records, collections, manual bookmarks, notes, and saved reader preferences to a ZIP file at the location you select. Temporary recovery positions and unfinished note drafts are not exported. Backups are not password-encrypted. Anyone with access to a backup can read its contents. If you choose a cloud document provider, that provider handles your selected files under its own privacy policy; Clover does not operate that cloud service.
Retention and deletion
Clover retains its local library until you clear its storage in Android Settings or uninstall it. You can remove individual notes, collections, and manual bookmarks within the app. To erase all managed books and local app records, use Android Settings → Apps → Clover → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall Clover. This does not remove your original EPUBs or backups saved elsewhere; delete those separately if desired. Export a backup first if you want to keep your library.
This version disables Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup for its private library. Use Clover’s explicit Save backup and Restore backup controls when moving your data.
Support and questions
For privacy questions, contact Zoilo Blanco using the developer support email listed on Clover’s Google Play store page. If you send an email, it contains the information you choose to share and is handled by your email provider and the developer’s email provider. Avoid attaching private books or notes unless needed for your support request.
Changes
If Clover’s data practices change, this policy will be updated with a new effective date. Any future accounts, online services, or paid features will be described before they are introduced.
